This piece is one of five site-specific works
titled; "Monuments to Time in the Corridor of Life,
Art and Culture" commissioned by the City of
Escondido, CA for its Downtown Public Art Corridor.
Artists Sandra Rowe and Nancy Mooslin designed
pieces for the other four sites. The four
sculptures of "Circle of Music" represent four
pieces of music composed by Steven Stucky. The
music is activated by motion detectors located in
the base of each sculpture. The pieces are written
to sound well together regardless of the sequence
in which they are played, how many are playing, or
when they start, finish, or overlap each
other.
